Lying in bed in Cambridge, UK, needing sleep, but I woke up too early and couldn't fall back asleep, so I took a little time to listen to a podcast that I knew I wanted to listen to but was intimidated by how much time it was going to take (hour and 45 minutes. Yikes).
Maybe one of the most impactful things I've ever listened to!
Last month, my wife, Rhonda, and I saw this great movie called "The Sound of Hope: The story of Possum Trot." And it was really well done and meaningful and inspiring.
Watching these people talk about not just the movie but the events that caused 22 families to adopt kids that no one else wanted to adopt was so impactful to me, not because I'm going to likely adopt any children, though I'm definitely motivated to help that cause. But that's not the only thing.
I also really loved their discussion about community and all the positive effects of getting outside of themselves and doing this remarkable thing that God was calling them to.
And even beyond that, listening to these wonderful people talk with such genuine zeal about how God spoke to them and called them to do this remarkable thing and even the filmmakers to make this really great movie that a lot of people would not support is inspiring for all of us to explore and discover what God wants for us, what God is calling us to! I'm asking God even now what he wants me to do when I step aside from the daily grind of my career while still trying to follow Him and listen to Him.
I'm confident God will use these words from these amazing people to help direct my steps. Probably not in the area of adoption, but for the things that God has put on my heart.
I really encourage you to watch this podcast with an open heart and also try to find a way to watch that movie.
Blessings,
David
